About Perrysville, OH

Perrysville was originally called Freeport, and under the latter name was laid out in 1815. The present name honors Oliver Hazard Perry, remembered for leading American forces in a decisive naval victory at the Battle of Lake Erie. A post office called Perryville was established in 1820, and the name was changed to Perrysville in 1883.
