Just north of town, St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church was founded on a farm in 1765. If you take Tapper's Corner Road out of town to where it ends at Lewistown Road, you will be near the head of a creek which flows ( 38°53′04″N 75°57′29″W  /  38.8845°N 75.958°W  / 38.8845; -75.958 ) into the Tuckahoe; this creek was called Kentucky, by it once stood the cabin of Betsey Bailey, the grandmother of Frederick Douglass; he believed he was born there. ^ "US Gazetteer files: 2010, 2000, and 1990".
