About Lake Como, NJ

Lake Como is a borough in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 1,759, reflecting a decline of 47 (-2.6%) from the 1,806 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 324 (+21.9%) from the 1,482 counted in the 1990 Census. It is the tenth-smallest municipality in land area in New Jersey. Lake Como was originally formed as the borough of South Belmar by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 12, 1924, from portions of Wall Township, subject to the results of a referendum held on May 6, 1924. On November 2, 2004, voters in the borough approved changing the locality's name to Lake Como, which became effective as of January 4, 2005.
