Cat’s Clown is a flashy double registered Smokey Valley Horse and TWHBEA. At 3 coming 4 years old, this mare stands at a solid 15.2hh. She is big, stocky, powerful, and embodies the classic qualities that make Smokey Valley Horses so sought after. Meticulously bred for substantial conformation, a short back, deep chest, strong sloping shoulders, a refined head, and a long, elegant neck. She has that remarkable, stylish presence and calm, people-pleasing demeanor the breed is known for, combined with exceptional stamina, athleticism, and natural four-beat gaits (running walk, rack) that deliver a smooth, ground-covering “magic carpet ride” effect with significant over-stride.
What makes Cat’s Clown truly special is her eye-catching splashed-up coat paired with the powerhouse build and forward-moving energy that is the standard in top Smokey Valley Horses, often called “Ferraris you put saddles on.” She’s not just beautiful, she’s an athlete bred for Performance Trail Riding, or endurance racing, offering unmatched smoothness, agility, and endurance over long distances and challenging terrain. Her natural gait is effortless, providing comfort and efficiency on a light keg shoe, making her a standout in a breed already renowned for recreating America’s historic smooth gaited traveling horses.
Like all exceptional Smokey Valley Horses, Cat’s Clown gives her riders the ability to cover serious ground on the trails with minimal effort due to the efficiency of her gaits and almost no fatigue in the saddle, so you can ride comfortably from dawn until dusk without ever feeling like you’ve put in a full day’s work!
In the arena of everyday handling and real-world usability, Cat’s Clown is as solid as they come. She’s trailer-savvy, traffic-safe, and dog-friendly, can cross water, and has plenty of exposure to all the sights and sounds that come with trail life. She’s been ridden on numerous trails all over Eastern Kentucky and shown at local horse shows. Cat’s Clown stands quietly and patiently for the farrier, vet, bathing, mounting, and dismounting, and is confident in new situations. She has impeccable ground manners and never crowds you while being led. She is very respectful of your space.
This mare is just getting started with all of her possibilities. She has a ton of potential to excel further as she matures, whether in endurance, pleasure riding, or more demanding trails in the performance world.
Cat’s Clown would make an outstanding trail partner for an intermediate rider with some familiarity with gaited horses. Someone who knows how to set her up properly and can unlock the full range of her smooth gait and get the most out of her responsive, forward nature. If you’re looking for a young, powerful, flashy Smokey Valley mare who embodies a great mind and is ready to hit the trails with you, Cat’s Clown is that rare gem waiting for you!

About Olive Hill, KY
Olive Hill began as a rural trading post established by the Henderson brothers in the first part of the 19th century. Although Olive Hill was allegedly named by Elias P. Davis for his friend Thomas Oliver, there is no evidence to support this popular contention. In 1881, the town was moved from a hillside location to the current location in the Tygarts Creek valley, where the Elizabethtown, Lexington and Big Sandy Railroad had laid tracks. The hillside location become known as Old Olive Hill and now serves as the city's residential area.
