15.2hh Registered Appendix Quarter Horse mare for sale to the right home (read the full ad for details). Rosa is a lovely girl with a very solid mind. We have owned her for fifteen years and she has always been a model of good behaviour. She is safe on the ground and mounted, stands well for trimming and grooming, is easy about deworming, and loads like a dream. She was professionally started under saddle as a five-year-old and has been ridden recreationally since then with a bunch of miles on the trails in Kananaskis. On the trail, she’s not spooky, she’s happy to lead or follow, has a great ground-covering walk, and is content to stand tied at the trailer or in a stall. She has been ridden Western with either a snaffle bit or a side-pull (bitless), and is confident enough to go out alone or in a group. We hate to sell this gem of a mare, but her condition is not well-suited to our facility and amount of time to ride. Rosa suffers from grass-induced laminitis if let out on any amount or quality of pasture. She requires dry-paddock living with a year-round, hay-only diet, regular exercise, and good hoof care to remain sound. We have tried supplements, reduced pasture, and track living and none of these have kept her from getting sore when turned out. Last spring we had her examined and x-rayed at Moore Equine and this information is available to anyone interested. We have always ridden her in hoof boots, but she may benefit from shoeing. This is not a husband or take-your-friend-riding horse. Rosa needs to be somebody’s #1 mount, working regularly to keep her trim and sound.
