Payson is one of the nicest riding geldings you’ll experience. He is absolutely great at everything from moving cows on the ranch to being handy in the show pen and bomb-proof out on the trail. He is up for anything and is truly the sweetest horse ever. He is in your pocket and loves giving hugs. You can catch him anywhere in the pasture, first to greet you. He loads and unloads as one should. He is very nice in the bridle side passing and half passing turns on the front end and haunches, knows his leads, and is willing at everything. Point and go out on the trail. He loves leading, and he will follow as well. He is safe in every way and rides great in groups and out alone. Payson will catch everyone’s attention as he is gorgeous and conformationally correct. He has great bone under him, a strong back, and solid hooves with a perfect mind. Loads and unloads as one should. Easy to trim and shoe, he goes barefoot or shod. He is great for the veterinarian as well as the dentist. He is great to groom and tack up. He’s in a pasture with mares and geldings and gets along with everything here. Don’t pass this gentleman up if you want to go out safely and return safely. He is 14, coming 15 in July, and has been well cared for. He has many years left and so many memories to make with Payson. We are excited to find him the perfect home.

About Fort Collins, CO

Fort Collins was founded as a military outpost of the United States Army in 1864. It succeeded a previous encampment, known as Camp Collins, on the Cache La Poudre River, near what is known today as Laporte. Camp Collins was erected during the Indian wars of the mid-1860s to protect the Overland mail route that had been recently relocated through the region. Travelers crossing the county on the Overland Trail would camp there, but a flood destroyed the camp in June 1864. Afterward, the commander of the fort wrote to the commandant of Fort Laramie in southeast Wyoming, Colonel William O.
