Captain’s King is a very flashy and handsome 3-year-old registered Dutch Harness gelding and stands at 15.1 hands still growing. King is a very smart, gentle, and friendly horse with a big personality. He is used to being around people and lots of different animals and loves attention. He stands to groom, tack, and bathe …. He is also great for vets and farriers. Everybody loves him. King has a sense of humor and loves to untie knots or drink water out of the hose when you bathe him or when you fill up his water tub in his field. On a hot day, he will be there waiting for you to get hosed off. He makes us laugh all the time. We have had King from yearling on, and he has been started under a saddle here with us. King has been a joy to work with and one of the safest young horses we have had. We have yet to find something he is afraid of. He is so curious, and he wants to know what everything is. King has been ridden Western, English, and bareback and has been on many long, quiet trail rides through open fields, woods, water, and deep ravines. King loves to go on trail rides and venture out on the ranch with his human and rides out alone perfectly well but is also fine riding with other horses. He is a nice, light ride with comfortable gaits even though he is a very nice mover making him suitable for dressage. His canter covers a lot of ground and is a lot of fun to sit to. Although we do not jump young horses, he is athletic enough to jump in the future and has willingly gone over little cross-rails without hesitation. He has a nice headset, relaxed back, and stays quiet on a loose rein ring or trails, but you won’t have to ask him twice for anything. Since we start our horses out in a halter when we first ride them, he has retained a very soft mouth for a bit and currently rides in a thick, soft snaffle. He moves off your leg easily and responds to a soft hand, and he will bend around your leg. He is a surefooted and confident horse out in the country. King is a very respectful and well-behaved horse. He is very willing to do anything he is asked. His sweet personality and young age will make him bond easily with his owner, and he will look for you when you come to his pasture. He has been exposed to everything you could imagine, including dogs, cars, tractors, ATVs, chainsaws, tarps, balls, umbrellas, cattle, poles, etc. He is a very kind, honest, and trusting gelding with a great disposition. King loads and unloads in the trailer by himself with ease and will stand tied all day like a gentleman, well, unless your knots don’t hold up to his untying skills. He also stands at the mounting block perfectly or when you mount from the ground from either side. This gelding is a joy to teach and has the potential to go far in the show ring with the right training or become a great family horse with his sweet personality. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to own this wonderful horse.

About Jacksonville, TX

Jacksonville began in 1847 as the town of Gum Creek. Jackson Smith built a home and blacksmith shop in the area, and became postmaster in 1848, when a post office was authorized. Shortly afterward, Dr. William Jackson established an office near Smith's shop. When the townsite was laid out in 1850, the name Jacksonville was chosen in honor of these two men.
