Llano for Adoption

Llano was removed from a negligent rescue by a joint effort between Safe Haven Equine Rescue and The Humane Society of the US along with the Camp County sheriff's department. He was then placed with Bluebonnet. Llano is blind in his right eye, but he has no other known health or lameness problems. Llano can be very slow to trust but once he does he is an absolute sweetheart. He loves to lean his head against you and enjoys the attention. It seems that Llano did not have good handling before coming to Bluebonnet. He has spent time with a trainer to work on his ground manners and she planned to restarted him under saddle for the 2020 Fall Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. Unfortunately Llano is going to require longer than the training challenge period to overcome his prior bad experiences. He does have basic skills mastered though. He loads perfectly, stands for farrier, and is easy to catch. He still gets nervous passing tight places, and he will always act slightly fresh when starting out a training session. He is very attentive and sensitive. Due to Llano's trust issues he is going to require an adopter willing to spend extra time to gain his trust. He is very athletic and could go far if someone is willing to put in the time and effort to help him move beyond his past. LLano needs a very experienced adopter and trainer with calm confidence and patience to bring him to his full potential.
