Missouri Fox Trotter Mare for Sale in Ellisville, MO

TAKING OFFERS ON THE WEBSITE "THEHORSEBAY" Lady” is a show-stopping, head-turning, Palomino, trail riding horse. She is a 12 yr. old, registered, head shakin’, Missouri Fox Trotter. She is gorgeous and flashy with a sweet temperament. When I come out to pasture to halter and ride it isn’t unusual for her to walk up to the gate to greet me. She never tries to over walk you. We have worked on heeling to my shoulder and backing off of it without any pressure on the lead rope. She is a ‘steady Eddie” with many trail miles and has been exposed to a lot of different things. She is unphased by cars, tractors, trailers that come along the road. If she is concerned about something, she may give out a snort, saying…”Warning Will Rogers”. But she is brave and will walk right up to it and sniff. No spook! She has learned many of the Clinton Fundamentals and enjoys learning new things. Lady doesn’t have an agenda. She is not dominant or means with people, she may pin her ears, at an occasional horse, but then rides right along with them. She is a tank, very solid. Her confirmation is amazing. She can carry a big rider with ease. Check out the width of her chest and butt. She is surefooted up and downhills. She will go through puddles, creeks, and large bodies of water. She has been ridden in the mud and rain. She will stand and take breaks on the trail or chill and eat grass if you give her permission. She is easy to get on and off, on the trail. She trailers well. She ties, cross ties, stands well for the farrier/vet, grooming/clipping, and tacking up. She has all the training of a good trail buddy: side pass, back up, leg yields, flat walk, foxtrot, canter. She can ride happily with quarter horses. Lady rides alone or in groups. In groups, she will lead, go in the middle, or last. She would do best with an advanced beginner or intermediate rider. She is located about 30 minutes from St. Louis, MO.

About Ellisville, MO

Ellisville was settled by Captain James Harvey Ferris of Kentucky before 1837. He brought slaves with him when he settled his property south of Manchester and west of Kiefer Creek Road, and it was here the house that became known as the "Ellis House" was constructed. The bricks used for construction of the house were handmade by the slaves; it was also called the "Brick Place" for this reason. Captain Ferris sold the house to Vespasian Ellis, a newspaper editor in St. Louis.
