Mule Mare for Sale in Brodhead, KY
Private treaty so price is not guaranteed it can change. Please contact me for more info. Ellie May (AKA Ellie) is a 15.2hh, 11 yr old, sorrel flax mane and tail, gaited molly mule! Ellie was a birthday present for a young lady back 6 years ago now. Her daddy got Ellie for his daughter so that they could share his love of trail riding together. For the last 5 years Ellie hasn’t made a bobble or any type of mistake and for all reasons of her own should still be at her previous home but life does throw curveballs at us all and this young ladies daddy was diagnosed with ALS(Lou Gehrig’s disease) a few years ago and he lost his battle with that early in 2019. After taking some time off, riding just wasn’t the same and didn’t interest her anymore and she decided to sell Ellie. When we
... more»went to get her, Ellie hadn’t been ridden in over 7 months. This girl’s grandfather was there to show Ellie to us and he walked out in the pasture caught Ellie, tacked her up with an old time Buena Vista saddle, got a 5 gallon bucket and climbed on her, Ellie rode off gentle like she had been ridden every day of the year and we brought her home with us. Ellie has been trail ridden on several 3 and 4 day rides in several parts of Tennessee, Virginia and Kentucky. She tie/picket lines, hauls, and travels well. She has made several trips to the Knott County trail ride here in Kentucky. She is easy to catch, clip, bath, tack-up, NOT ear shy, farrier friendly, loads, and you can handle her anyway you like. Ellie has very smooth gaits all the way up to about 12 mph. Ellie has had 2 months of professional gaiting, trail and bombproof training. He has been ridden around farm equipment, ATV’s, over large noisy tarps and has also had guns shot off of his back. Just like everything we say about our horses, we have the videos to prove it. Ellie is never spooky acting on the trails! Ellie has been exposed to all kinds of wildlife such as deer or turkey or other animals like cows or dogs and will go anywhere that she is asked too. She has been rode many miles in the mountains of Eastern as well as throughout the States. She will go up or down even the steepest slopes, across deep creeks, over downed trees, and over all types of rough terrain while still being sure footed. Ellie May is a top notch mule all the way around! Feel free to call me with any questions.
About Brodhead, KY
What is now Brodhead was originally a stagecoach stop and drover's stable known as Stigalls Station. When the L&N Railroad reached the area in early 1868, a train station was established, and the town was given its current name. The town is believed to have been named for the contractor responsible for building the rail line in the area, or for Richard Brodhead, a U.S. senator from Pennsylvania. ipt> .
