Quarter Horse Mare for Sale in Iowa City, IA

Nevada is a gorgeous, foundation bred, athletic mare. She is 14.3, 7 years old. We started her in 2014, put in a lot of groundwork and light rides, then turned her out for most of the fall/winter. In 2015, we rode her quite a bit more, and got her going nicely at the walk, trot, and canter, as well as introducing collection and lateral movement. She is responsive to seat and leg cues, soft to a snaffle or traditional hackamore, and has a good handle. We did have some problems with bucking. She’s been out to pasture for a couple years now and needs to be restarted. We have come to accept we currently don’t have the time to go back to square one with her ourselves. On the ground, Nevada is entirely sweet and safe to be around. She is good for the vet and farrier. She’s never had any lameness or health problems. She isn’t spooky or fearful. She stands quietly for grooming and mounting, takes the bit and saddle nicely, and is used to ropes, tarps, machinery, and dogs. She’s got a lot of talent and could go in any direction. Or, with her excellent pedigree and ground manners, she’d make a good brood mare. We’re open to reasonable offers. For more photos, see #strawberrynevada on Instagram. (319) 535-0891

About Iowa City, IA

Iowa City was created by an act of Legislative Assembly of the Iowa Territory on January 21, 1839, fulfilling the desire of Governor Robert Lucas to move the capital out of Burlington and closer to the center of the territory. This act began: An Act to locate the Seat of Government of the Territory of Iowa ... so soon as the place shall be selected, and the consent of the United States obtained, the commissioners shall proceed to lay out a town to be called "Iowa City". Commissioners Chauncey Swan and John Ronalds met on May 1 in the small settlement of Napoleon, south of present-day Iowa City, to select a site for the new capital city. The following day the commissioners selected a site on bluffs above the Iowa River north of Napoleon, placed a stake in the center of the proposed site and began planning the new capital city.
