Notes: UC Defiantly Ginger, “Ginger,” is a 2023 chestnut Morgan mare currently standing at 14.3hh (expected to mature to approximately 15hh). Ginger is out of UC Lady Patriot (Call To Order x UC Courage Under Fire) and by Battersea Xanadu (Chief Of State x Battersea Ouida). Her paternal grandsire, Chief Of State, excelled across several disciplines, including carriage, dressage, hunter over fences, and trail, earning numerous championships in both open and Morgan competition. Her sire, Battersea Xanadu, was successfully shown in hand and has been one of UConn’s top-producing stallions in recent years due to his impressive pedigree, temperament, and trainability. Ginger’s maternal lineage includes proven producers of highly successful and versatile horses. Her dam and granddam (UC Courage Under Fire) produced offspring that have contributed to UConn’s longstanding Morgan breeding, IHSA, and riding programs, demonstrating the versatility and quality of these established bloodlines. Ginger herself is incredibly level for grooming and tacking and has developed a solid foundation in her early training. She is comfortable working on the lunge line in full tack and has been lightly backed. Ginger is a brave and quiet mare who approaches new experiences with confidence. She loads without issue and excels at trail obstacles, making her an excellent trail horse prospect. When she was introduced to a jump chute, she demonstrated a natural effort and scope over the fences. Ginger shows plenty of promise as an all-around type horse with the potential to go in any direction. She wiDue to her age and stage of training, Ginger would be best suited for an amateur working with a trainer. She will continue her training until sold. Ginger is current on all vaccinations, deworming, and Coggins.
