Name: UC Don't Be Daft Breed: Morgan Registration: AMHA Age: 2023 Gender: Gelding Color: Chestnut Height: 14.3; expected ~15hh Notes: UC Don’t Be Daft, “Jack,” is a 2023 Morgan colt standing 14.3hh (expected to mature to 15+hh) by UC Battersea Xanadu (Chief of State x Battersea Ouida) and out of UC Serenity (UC Ringmaster x UC Faith). His sire, UC Battersea Xanadu, was successfully shown in hand and has been one of the top-producing stallions at UConn due to his impressive pedigree, temperament, and trainability. Jack’s paternal grandsire, Chief of State, excelled in multiple disciplines, including carriage, dressage, hunter over fences, and trail, earning numerous championships in both open and Morgan competition. On his maternal side, Jack’s grandsire, UC Ringmaster, was a two-time World English Pleasure Champion, earning the title in 1991 and 1993. His dam, UC Serenity, was a successful jumper type with impressive scope who was part of the UConn riding program before becoming a broodmare who has produced multiple quality foals. With his flowy gaits, willing attitude, and versatile Morgan breeding, Jack has potential for a variety of disciplines, including hunter, dressage, pleasure, or driving. Jack has established a solid foundation in ground manners, desensitization, and in-hand work. He stands quietly on cross-ties, bathes, loads, and stands well for the farrier. His groundwork includes steering, long-lining, and responding to cues through the reins in hand. He has been introduced to full tack and has been lightly started. Jack’s training, including his introductory under-saddle work, will continue until sold. He is current on all vaccinations, deworming, and Coggins.
