Oreos is a 4-year-old Appaloosa mare that stands 15.1 hands. She’s one of the most people-loving horses I have ever been around. She will stop whatever she’s doing to come get attention. She is such a happy mare with her ears always up and wanting nothing more than to please you. This summer has been full of adventure for her. We have ridden her in every kind of terrain you can imagine. Steep hills, rocky trails, narrow ledges, snow, mud, rivers, and bridges! We were so impressed with her ability and sure-footedness that we confidently took her anywhere. She became the go-to mount during elk hunting season this fall. She led the pack string through some very difficult terrain multiple times, and she never once missed a beat. She ties anywhere and didn’t even flinch at the sound of gunshots. I hauled her 5 days a week all summer long. Exposing her to long days, gymkhanas with kids running everywhere, fair rodeos, parades, and even 4th of July fireworks. She will load in any trailer without hesitation. She is great for the farrier and practically puts the halter on herself when it’s time to go. If you open the gate, she’s meeting you there ready and eager. At only 4 years old and absolutely willing to do anything for you, I think she could go in a lot of directions. I always get calls from people wanting a fun trail horse to explore the country on, and that explains Oreos to a T. Safety is very important, and it’s not easy to find a horse that won’t spook at something new or panic on a steep trail. She always thinks before she reacts, and that is a quality that is worth so much in a horse! She has even had ropes go under her tail and didn’t bat an eye. Her sire is by ‘Fifty Shades Darker’. A triple homozygous Appaloosa stallion. Many of his offspring have placed at the Appaloosa World Show and went on to be great performance horses. Oreos has all the potential to succeed in the arena in either Western or English. She would love to find someone who enjoys snuggling and grooming her, as much as they enjoy riding. Appaloosas are making a strong comeback in popularity. Oreos is a gorgeous girl. She is exactly what everyone looks for when they want an Appaloosa.
