Spotted Draft Horse Gelding

Meet Charleston! He stands a strong 17hh and is a 7-year-old spotted draft gelding. Charleston is the best boy around; everywhere we take him, we’re reminded of how beautiful he is! He has a shiny tri-colored coat, a long mane and tail, and a personality to match. We have had him in our program for over a year. At home, he goes by Charlie or Charles, and he loves just about any treat you give him! He is the kind of horse who wants to be your best friend. He gets along great with other horses, ponies, mares, geldings, sheep, goats, and cows. Charles enjoys being part of the group. We have taught him so many things. He can side-pass onto a mounting block, fence, rock, or just about anything you want to use to get on. He will stand like a statue while you mount and will walk, trot, and canter off with the softest cues. He knows his leads as well. He will stop with a simple “whoa” and has wonderful transitions. Charlie is not fussy about bits and will happily ride in just a halter. He loves going on adventures and has been exposed to all kinds of things. Charlie is happy on the trails, riding through open fields, taking a dip in the river, exploring the woods, or just enjoying a relaxing ride around the farm. Traffic and wildlife don’t bother him. He has also been exposed to flags, tarps, bridges, pool noodles, umbrellas, fireworks, and whips. Charlie is happy to venture out alone or ride with a group. Recently, the kids at the farm have been riding him English, and he’s been having a blast! Charlie has been jumping and even doing flying lead changes. He knows how to work off seat and leg pressure, side pass, back up, and even spin like a Quarter Horse. Don’t let his size fool you—he’s athletic and light on his feet! Charlie recently attended a hunter pace and did fantastic! He will listen to the most subtle cues, making him an easy and enjoyable horse to ride. Charlie also knows how to drive and has been to many exciting parades and events. He will stand at stop signs and patiently wait while passengers climb on and off the carriage. He works single and double. Charlie has loads of training and experience under his belt and is looking for a family or person who wants a bigger horse to have fun with. He would be happy in the arena, on the trails, or out enjoying new adventures. If you’re looking for a beautiful, colorful horse with wonderful training and a willing attitude, he might be the one; he’ll check a lot of boxes on anyone’s wishlist!
