Ratatouille is a 5-year-old registered APHA gelding standing 15.3 hands high. This horse checks almost every rider’s boxes. He is safe, an easy keeper, confident, smooth, and versatile. Though he is young, he has been all over the country doing different jobs and has seen more than most horses twice his age. He has been used to rope, sort, and doctor calves on the ranch. He’s gone to dressage, eventing, and hunter/jumper clinics and lessons. And he has camped, trail rode, hunter paced, and hacked out all over. You cannot dream of a more versatile and well-rounded young horse. Whether you ride him every day or every other week, he comes out the same gentle and quiet guy. He is happy being a timid amateur’s emotional support horse, a weekend warrior’s hunt partner, or an invaluable teammate for every member of your family to take and enjoy in their own way. In the ring, Ratatouille has three comfortable gaits, an easy neck rein, and all of the buttons you could want. He rides equally well in both English and Western disciplines. He is simple enough for a beginner or timid rider, yet he has the training and talent for the more experienced rider who wants a horse that can grow and move up the levels with ease. He has a great understanding of all the basic lateral work and has the mind and buttons to hit any show ring. Try the ranch versatility one day, dressage the next, pop over some jumps, or take him to a working equitation clinic. This guy really can do it all. And is happy to bop along as a confidence booster, or to go out and try new things with his person. On the trails and outside of the ring, Ratatouille is the horse everyone fights over. If you want the horse that will swim in the lake, safely ride through town, have a rope swung off him, to go on a camping trip, or just a relaxing ride with the girls — he’s your man. Guests, family, friends- throw them up on him and know they’ll come back in one piece. Ratatouille is equal parts fun and useful. He’s not just a pretty face to trail ride on; you can saddle him up and do all the jobs on the ranch with ease. He’s roped and doctored calves, checked fences, sorted pairs, and has seen his fair share of ranch work. Whatever you want to do, simply load up and go, knowing you have a great partner with you. In the barn, Ratatouille has great manners and an even greater personality. He is polite, easy to be around, and loves his people. He follows us around the field when we are out there working; he’s the type that genuinely enjoys being around people. He has a fabulous mane and tail that he’ll stand for hours while you braid and groom. He is a good boy for all the usual barn tasks, easy to load, and easy to keep.
