Mustang Gelding for Sale in Fort Collins, CO
Cuervo is a 6-year-old bay mustang gelding standing at 14.1 hands, with a stocky build and eye-catching chrome markings that add to his charm. He’s got a bit of a nervous streak on the ground—he’s easily spooked of people on the ground and needs a calm, experienced handler who can approach him gently and confidently, because he might act like he’s seen a ghost every time you open his stall door.
But once you’re in the saddle, Cuervo shines like a star. He’s incredibly smart, quick, and athletic—one of those rare horses that can really wow you with his skills. He’s free lunged over fences as high as 4’6” with ease, showing impressive power and grace. His agility is off the charts; he can spin tight circles that dig into the dirt, side pass smoothly at all gaits (walk, jog, and lope), and turn faster on the rail than many cutters you’ll see out there. Cuervo can also perform six flying lead changes straight down the center line and stop instantly on command.
On top of all that, he’s got a finished neck rein and responds beautifully to leg cues, making him a true pleasure to ride. He’s also seasoned on the trail, unfazed by bikes, runners, and even the chaos of downtown traffic. Bridges, lakes, rivers, tunnels—you name it, Cuervo’s crossed or gone through it without hesitation.
The only real challenge with Cuervo is his nervousness on the ground, but if that wasn’t a factor, he’d be perfect even for the smallest riders, the more we work with him the better he gets and we truly believe with a forever person he will learn confidence on the ground as well.
He’s genuinely a cool horse to ride and would be #1 on my list to keep if I had an extra spot for a personal horse.
Come check him out and feel free to watch his video or get in touch with any further questions! “

About Fort Collins, CO
Fort Collins was founded as a military outpost of the United States Army in 1864. It succeeded a previous encampment, known as Camp Collins, on the Cache La Poudre River, near what is known today as Laporte. Camp Collins was erected during the Indian wars of the mid-1860s to protect the Overland mail route that had been recently relocated through the region. Travelers crossing the county on the Overland Trail would camp there, but a flood destroyed the camp in June 1864. Afterward, the commander of the fort wrote to the commandant of Fort Laramie in southeast Wyoming, Colonel William O.
