Quarter Horse Gelding for Sale in Fort Collins, CO
12 year old bay gelding | Flashy | Seasoned Trail Horse with Personality
Commander is a stunning bay gelding with plenty of chrome and a larger-than-life personality. He’s the kind of horse that turns heads and wins hearts wherever he goes. Energetic, enthusiastic, and full of character, Commander is a true all-around partner who’s always ready for the next adventure.
He absolutely loves having a job and is happiest when he’s working. With his great motor and forward-thinking attitude, Commander is the type of horse that can go all day and still be eager for more. He’s been used extensively on the trail and has proven to be reliable in a wide variety of settings. Whether you’re riding alone or in a group, he’s confident, surefooted, and steady. He’s even ridden straight through downtown without batting an eye — completely unfazed by traffic, bikes, strollers, dogs, pedestrians, or crowds.
In the arena, Commander knows his leads, stops off voice cues, performs a smooth rollback into the rail, and carries a comfortable, slow jog. He’s also been very lightly started on collection and framework, showing his versatility and easygoing nature. Whether you’re headed into the hills or warming up in the ring, he’s ready to meet the moment.
Commander has been exposed to a wide range of obstacles and activities. He’s carried a flag, crossed tarps without hesitation, gone over bridges, and even gone swimming. His boldness and curiosity make him a joy to ride in unfamiliar settings, and he handles new experiences with enthusiasm.
Commander has tracked a cow, been to a sorting and been roped off, been part of ranch life, checked fences, and will drag a calf to the fire.
He’s also incredibly personable on the ground! Commander is fun to be around, enjoys being bathed, and thrives on attention. He’s got a goofy, affectionate personality and thinks every horse is his new best friend. He doesn’t need to be lunged before riding — just saddle up and go.
Commander is truly a one-of-a-kind gelding with heart, ability, and a personality that keeps things fun. If you’re looking for a horse that’s trail-seasoned, versatile, and full of character, he’s ready to be your next partner.

About Fort Collins, CO
Fort Collins was founded as a military outpost of the United States Army in 1864. It succeeded a previous encampment, known as Camp Collins, on the Cache La Poudre River, near what is known today as Laporte. Camp Collins was erected during the Indian wars of the mid-1860s to protect the Overland mail route that had been recently relocated through the region. Travelers crossing the county on the Overland Trail would camp there, but a flood destroyed the camp in June 1864. Afterward, the commander of the fort wrote to the commandant of Fort Laramie in southeast Wyoming, Colonel William O.
