Quarter Horse Mare for Sale in Fort Collins, CO
If you’re looking for a confident, reliable, and absolutely stunning mare that’s ready for any direction, Ocean is the one. With her striking gray dappled coat, strong build, and a heart that loves a job, she’s the kind of horse that leaves a lasting impression wherever she goes, not even mentioning her absolutely breathtaking aqua blue eye.
Ocean has been exposed to just about everything and takes it all in stride. From the mountains to the middle of town, she’s carried riders through it all — chaotic streets, barking dogs, flying flags, bicycles, strollers, heavy traffic, and unpredictable noise. She handles the chaos with poise, offering a smooth, solid ride no matter the situation.
Out on the ranch, Ocean has pushed cattle, worked fences, and had a rope thrown off of her. She’s confident, responsive, and surefooted in rough country. She crosses water, goes over bridges, and moves easily through challenging terrain. Her calm, steady demeanor makes her a reliable partner in high-pressure situations.
In the arena, Ocean has a smooth walk, jog, and lope, stops with a shift in your seat, and moves off your leg with ease. She’s soft in the bridle and shows all the traits of a well-started, versatile mount. She carries herself with confidence and class — a true ranch and trail horse that knows her job and shows up to work every day.
Ocean’s personality is just as standout as her ride. She’s friendly, in-your-pocket, and the first to greet you at the gate. She gets along well in a herd or stall, stands tied, leads, loads, bathes, and is easy for the vet and farrier.
This is a seasoned mare with an unbeatable mind and the kind of mileage and exposure that only comes with real-world experience. Whether you’re after a dependable ranch partner, a seasoned trail mount, or a stylish addition to your program, Ocean checks all the boxes.

About Fort Collins, CO
Fort Collins was founded as a military outpost of the United States Army in 1864. It succeeded a previous encampment, known as Camp Collins, on the Cache La Poudre River, near what is known today as Laporte. Camp Collins was erected during the Indian wars of the mid-1860s to protect the Overland mail route that had been recently relocated through the region. Travelers crossing the county on the Overland Trail would camp there, but a flood destroyed the camp in June 1864. Afterward, the commander of the fort wrote to the commandant of Fort Laramie in southeast Wyoming, Colonel William O.
