Quarter Horse Gelding for Sale in Freeburg, IL
DESCRIPTION: “Tonto” is a 9-year-old paint Quarter horse that we have had for the past 2 1/2 years. We received him with some Missouri Foxtrotters because they didn’t have any use for a Quarter horse. Our trainers have background experience with Quarter horses, so we took on riding him for the past couple of years. He has undergone all the Natural Horsemanship training methods. As you will see in the videos, we ask Tonto to do many different things, but his primary use on our farm has been trail riding. He loads well, trailers well, and has been hauled a dozen times to different trail rides. Tonto is willing to lead the rail ride, ride in the middle, or the back. He has an overall calm disposition and is easy to get along with. Tonto has had all of his shots and has recently had his teeth done.
DISPOSITION & TEMPERAMENT: Tonto has an easy-going disposition. He’s always been willing to take to the training very well. He’s never offered a buck or run away. He won’t do anything stupid. He gets along with other horses and is an all-around easy-going guy!
GAIT: Tonto has three gates. He can walk, trot, and has a beautiful canter.
EXPERIENCE: Tonto has extensive trail riding experience. He is also traffic safe. He is secure enough for an inexperienced rider, as you can see in the videos. We have had several different people ride him. I have taken him on several trail rides myself, and I’m a gaited horse enthusiast. Tonto is actually pretty fun to ride. I have also used him for cattle sorting.
TRAINING: Tonto has been in training at our facility for over 2 years. We have used him exclusively. He yields well, lunges both directions and is very soft in the mouth.
In closing, I would like to think that Tonto is suitable for most types of riders. If you are looking for an all-around beautiful, big paint horse, Tonto is your guy! Feel free to make an appointment to come by and ride Tonto. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call us. We are a full-service equine facility and will be happy to answer any questions. We also offer nationwide transportation to any of our buyers. Good luck bidding on this big & beautiful gelding!
OPEN BIDDING ON THEHORSEBAY.COM ENDS ON 11/25 @ 5:00 PM CT. More information is available on the website, including an UTD vet inspection, Coggins, video, images, and the owner's contact information to ask questions, request information, or make arrangements to come to visit.
About Freeburg, IL
Freeburg lies in the fertile and rolling southern Illinois plains between the Kaskaskia and Mississippi Rivers. It was platted in 1836 as the town of Urbana by immigrants to this area from Virginia around 1800. The first European settlers of Freeburg were of English and Irish ancestry. There were five migratory Indian tribes that crisscrossed each other in Illinois; the Peorias, Cahokias, Kaskaskias, Tamaroas, and Michiganics. It is said that Turkey Hill north of town was a popular Indian campground that also attracted many early settlers because of the view it provided of the surrounding countryside.
