Kentucky Mountain Gelding for Sale in Crab Orchard, KY
FMI call: 606-416-2570
Moon is a very unique blue roan colored Kentucky Mountain Horse gelding. He stands 16 hands tall and has all the looks and brains you could ever want in a horse. He has a great conformation and build, a wonderful, pleasant disposition and the smoothest, all natural gait! Moon’s sire is a registered blue roan Tennessee walking horse and his dam is a registered Rocky Mountain mare. We have owned Moon for almost a year now and our cousin actually raised him from a baby! At 5 years old, Moon has a wealth of experience under his belt. From trail riding and camping trips to horse shows and cattle work- Moon is a well seasoned, all-around horse! Moon has a super smooth natural four beat gait that doesn’t require any special shoeing or bit to achieve this gait. In the words of our little girl “he has the best, most smoothest gait!” Any time we get him out of the stall she is asking, “Can I ride Moon?!” He is so easy going to handle and is such a sweetheart. On the trail Moon has loads of experience. We have taken him on camping trips where he has been a trusted mount every single day. He is dependable, strong and surefooted on the trail. He is a horse that each member of our family has enjoyed riding. Moon will go up and down the steepest hills with ease. He crosses logs, mud, ditches and deep water like a pro, and handles all sorts of terrain with confidence and skill. He is truly a trusted mount. He also has plenty of confidence to ride out alone all by himself or be the leader in a big group. We have even used him to lead other colts and horses off of while training them to lead.
Moon has also been shown at local fun shows by our entire family and always does great! He does not mind the noise, lights or commotion and is always the well-behaved gentleman we know and love. He always comes away with a ribbon and is a head turner for sure.
Moon has been started on driving and is taking to it very well. He is so great when learning new things. He has also had a start on neck reining and is coming along with that very well. He will side pass to a mounting block and stands perfectly to be mounted. He is also completely traffic safe and has been ridden to town! Moon has been hunted off of as well and pays no mind to leading dogs, flashing lights or navigating through rough terrain even at night. We’ve also used Moon around the farm to check fences and cattle and to even move and sort cattle. He is up to whatever task you ask him to do. He is also very familiar with dogs, cats, goats and other livestock. He pays no mind when the goats and cats go in and out of the stall and pasture with him! He is friendly and easy to catch. He stands tied patiently in the cross ties. He also loads and hauls wonderfully and stands for the farrier. He is also used to the guns, tarps and whips as you can see in the video.
