It ain’t a bird, it ain’t a plane… it’s not even Superman… That speeding bullet you just saw came by is Sheza Howard, aka Betty! Betty is a beautiful, stout-built, registered Standardbred Mare, standing around 15.1hh and 13 years old. Betty has been living at my neighbor’s house for the last few years, and I have trail-ridden countless miles with her and seen her show at local shows. She has been on camping trips, picket line-tied, and hauled to several states. She will flatfoot walk on a loose rein, or he can move on out if you ask. She has a smooth and natural gait that anyone will enjoy riding on. She will ride up to 30MPH, then slow back down, and walk on a loose rein. Betty has been shown at local shows in pleasure and speed classes, and she has seen it all, from the bright lights to hearing those blaring loudspeakers. Betty has seen it all and handles everything in stride! Betty has been exposed to various wildlife, such as deer, turkey, or other animals like cows or dogs, and will go anywhere he is asked to. He has ridden many miles in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky and encountered every obstacle possible on the trail. He will go up or down even the steepest slopes, across deep creeks, over downed trees, and all rough terrain while still being sure-footed. He has been ridden in traffic and is very traffic-safe around cars, semis, logs, and dump trucks. If you need speed but safety is also important… Betty is the lady for you!

About Jamestown, KY

The community was established in 1826 to be the seat of the newly formed Russell County. It was briefly known as Jacksonville in honor of General Andrew Jackson, who had just won a plurality of the popular vote during the 1824 presidential election but lost the runoff in the House of Representatives, largely because of the " corrupt bargain" struck by Henry Clay and John Quincy Adams. However, an anti-Jacksonian party loyal to Clay came into power the same year and the post office was established in November as Jamestown after local landowner James Wooldridge, who (together with his brother John) had donated 110 acres of land for the town. The act of the state legislature incorporating the city in December continued this name, which the city has used since. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,624 people, 662 households, and 421 families residing in the city.
