More information is available on the website, including an UTD vet inspection, Coggins, video, images, and the owner's contact information to ask questions, request information, or make arrangements to come to visit. Ritchie is a gorgeous buckskin crossbred gelding. He is four years old, stands 15.2 tall, and has excellent conformation. He is 1/4 Friesian and 3/4 quarter horse. He is built thick and strong like a quarter horse but athletic and graceful like a Friesian. Ritchie is gentle and kind and has a wonderful personality and demeanor accompanying his long list of skills! Ritchie rides and drives does tricks, is an expert on the trail and the ranch, has had many hours of training in the indoor and outdoor arenas, and even rides bridle-less! His potential is unlimited! Ritchie has had numerous hours of professional training and is very impressive in the arena. He will one-step lope, one-hand neck rein, and has a big stop. When loping circles, he takes the correct leads both ways and will also side pass and back at your command. Ritchie also works off of leg pressure and will ride completely bridle-less while still doing everything mentioned above! Ritchie is also a trick horse! He will lay down on your command! He will do this both while you are mounted or on the ground. He will also sit up like a dog at your command and follow you at the command to come. Ritchie will also side pass to a mounting block, a chair, a stump (or whatever you choose to mount from)! Ritchie is also an outstanding ranch horse. He has been used on our farm to check fences and cattle, move, sort, work, and doctor cattle, and be pasture roped off of. He is very level-headed and patient when working around cattle and helps make the job go smoothly. On the trail, Ritchie is strong, safe, and sure-footed. He has a vast knowledge of trail riding and handles all sorts of terrain and territory. He will easily go up and down steep hills, through mud and deep water, and cross logs and ditches. He is a trustworthy mount all the way around. He has even broke colts to lead by ponying them from him, even on the trail! In addition to these things, one of Ritchie’s greatest qualities is his driving ability. He is very experienced and has had many, many miles of driving! He has been driven to town many times and is completely traffic-safe. He pays no mind to cars and trucks of any size, to the noise or any other commotion he encounters. Ritchie is completely safe with bull whips, tarps, and guns, as you can see in the video. He has also been coon hunted off of many nights, and he is used to leading dogs, bright lights, and gunshots. Ritchie loves people and other horses and farm animals—even the goats and barn cats that are in and out of the stall with him all the time. He is easy to catch and will come right to you. He gets along well in the pasture with other horses, is quiet and clean in the stall, stands patiently in the cross-ties, stands quiet for the farrier, loves grooming and a bath, loads and hauls wonderfully, and is truly a wonderful horse to be around. Horses like Ritchie are not offered for sale very often. With his mindset, temperament, color, and size, owning such a special animal is a rare opportunity! Check out our full YouTube video for all of this and more! We would love to have you come visit Ritchie and ride him for yourself. Shipping can be arranged anywhere in the US.
