Monty is a three year old half Tennessee walker, half mountain horse gelding.
He’s a big dude standing an honest 16 hands!
He was born and raised on my dad’s farm. Last year as a two year old I took and started him under saddle. And out of the 200+ colts I’ve started he’s definitely one of my favorites.
Don’t let his high head fool you his friendly disposition and calm demeanor are awesome. He’s not a horse that falls asleep on the trail but neither does much of anything catch him off guard.
He’s also the kind that loves being rode and worked. And his smooth gait makes him a super comfortable ride.
As far as his training goes, I’ve basically had a good solid trail horse in mind. We see deer, turkey, rabbits, dogs, grouse, chickens, four wheelers, sxs, cars, cows, and tractors on an average day here at home. Had the opportunity in June to take a weekend trip to the Big South Fork in Tennessee where we saw black bears and rode some challenging trails and crossed the Big South Fork River. He took it all in stride! He will lead, ride in the middle or back. If you have to leave the group, he’s quiet and will go wherever you point him.
From day one I’ve been a stickler that he stands well to mount and dismount. And he does ground tie.
I feel assured that I’ve given him a good foundation for any discipline that he’s cut out for whether it’s field trials, horse shows, endurance riding, or just being someone’s favorite trail mount.
He’s stand perfect for farrier, dentist, vet, saddle, and mount and dismount.
I genuinely look forward to having you come ride him to see just how awesome he is!
