Tennessee Walking Gelding for Sale in Bell Buckle, TN

OPEN BIDDING ON THEHORSEBAY,COM. SALE ENDS ON 03/26 @ 2:30PM CT. More information is available on the website, including an UTD vet inspection, Coggins, video, images, and the owner's contact information to ask questions, request information, or make arrangements to come to visit. Now available for sale, Must Be The Whiskey, a 3-year-old black TWH gelding 14.3 hands tall. “Jinks” has had 16 months of professional training and placed in the top 3 at the 2022 Walking Horse Celebration. He has also been shown by a 14-year-old who has show ring experience. Jinks will go wherever you point him, from the show ring to the fields. I have ridden him alone on our 162-acre farm and with other horses; he seems happy and ready to please his rider. Jinks has been exposed to cattle; however, we have not worked cattle off of him, but he has been ridden in fields with cattle and turned out in a run next to cattle; they do not bother him. Jinks will load and unload on the trailer. He is learning how to park out on command; he side passes both directions, backs up, and will let a rider open a gate from his back. He will stand at a mounting block or even a large rock for mounting. He will ground tie for saddling or unsaddling. Jinks loves bathing, clipping, grooming, and saddling and stands nicely for the farrier. He is also learning how to bow, but by no means does it on command. I am still using ropes on him to teach this. He is very green at the bow but is learning. He is currently shod in a 3/8 x 3/4 shoe upfront with kegs behind. Jinks’s bit of choice is a twisted wire snaffle bit. He can be ridden with or without draw reins. In the video, please note I ride him with draw reins when our 6-year-old daughter is riding with me. The rest of the time, he is in just reins. I can ride him one-handed in a snaffle or two-handed. He will easily move off your legs and go wherever you guide him with your seat & legs. He works easily on a lunge lead in the round pen in both directions. Jinks will go through water on our farm with ease. He has not been ridden in the woods (we only have open fields and creeks on our property). However, I feel he would take right to it without any problems. Jinks would be best suited for a moderately experienced rider or kid with experience. Take him in any direction, from the show ring to the trails. He will make you happy! Please message me if you have questions or want to try him out in person. Payment is due in full before he leaves our property.

About Bell Buckle, TN

The origin of the town's unusual name is not known. According to the local chamber of commerce, one story says that one of the first white men to travel through the area found a tree with carvings of a cowbell and a buckle, possibly carved by Indians to warn white settlers away, or possibly carved by surveyors to mark the area as good pasture. Another form of the legend holds that a bell and buckle were tied around a tree. In any case, the nearby creek was named Bell Buckle Creek, and the town later took the name of the creek. The Bell Buckle area was settled in the early 19th century.
