Thoroughbred Gelding for Sale in New Bloomfield, MO

I have a 9 year old Thoroughbred gelding that was still racing until I "retired" him by buying him off the track in Florida last summer to bring him back to Missouri for my "pleasure" horse. He's completely sound, always has been, but I had no desire to get into racing, I just wanted him. I saw him run in his last race last June, which he placed second, so the owner really didn't want to sell him any longer but I offered to purchase 2 of his horses he had, so he sold me Hopefully Lucky. He's a big, bold beautiful horse who isn't really a typical Thoroughbred in that he's not a "hot" horse, but he can move very fast. I've never had him to full speed as I'm not near brave enough but he does know how to stop. I've been riding him western and he's done very well. He's also done extremely well with the Missouri pastures, which he had never had the pleasure of roaming on before I bought him. He doesn't have any vices and stands well for the farrier. He can be a little quirky at times with his back feet. He also stands tied. I never intended on selling either of my horses but we no longer have enough pasture available for grazing with our cattle too. That's the ONLY reason he's being offered for sale. I think he'd make a good speed event horse, like barrel, jumping, or eventing with the person who could teach him and he's a smart boy. However, I've also ridden him around our farm and made a bit of a "trail" horse out of him and he's done exceptionally well. So, I believe he can go any direction you want to take him. We do not own any type of trailer so transportation would be your responsibility. We live in central Missouri. The two photos of him at the track was the last race he ever ran in. He was the #2 horse and one photo is right before the race being led by his groom and the other photo is him actually in the race, right before the finish line. He placed in the order that the horses are on the track, 2nd!

About New Bloomfield, MO

In 1827, a 'Round Prairie Post Office' was opened near the southern border of a much larger historic Round Prairie Township (subdivided to create what became Guthrie Township only later, around 1890). In 1836, a historic town of 'Bloomfield', next to or containing the Round Prairie Post Office, was surveyed. (This was near what is now the settlement of Guthrie, which was not officially laid out until 1872, which from 1874 to 1954 had a separate Guthrie Post Office, and was within the boundaries of Round Prairie Township prior to the creation of Guthrie Township around 1890). In 1841 the Round Prairie Post Office was shut down and moved about 1/2 mile southward, clearly into Cedar Township, and was renamed 'New Bloomfield Post Office', around which today's town of New Bloomfield formed. Details of relevant township boundary changes are given in the article on Round Prairie Township.
