Spanish Mustang Mare for Sale in Stephenville, TX

*REDUCED PRICE* Blossom: Registered Spanish Mustang. Born in ’07. Had healthy filly in ’16 (Also possibly for sale). What she knows/doesn’t know: Blossom needs time, and lots of it. She loads in the trailer, bathes, fly sprays, tacks up, and stands nicely. Most of the time she picks up her feet well. I think she may have been abused, possibly had her feet kicked. Once they are up, she is good to go. She’s either fine or fearing for her life. She is not ill-tempered, and has not offered to kick or bite. She’s easy to catch in a smaller sized pen, but in a bigger pen or pasture don’t count on it, but sometimes she’ll pleasantly surprise you. As far as riding goes, she has several rides on her, and have gotten her up to a trot. She is very stiff, as will sometimes offer to buck if you aren’t paying attention. She’s not very spooky, just super goosey, and DEFINITELY needs an experienced rider. As far as stiffness goes, she has seen a chiropractor and I have discussed it with a vet. I put her on Bute for a few days and she acted the same, so I do not believe it is a pinch or a pain making her act this way, I personally think she just needs to bond with someone over time, a lot of time. But I could be wrong. What I do like about her: She is pretty calm when she doesn’t think you’re fixing to kill her. She doesn’t get real excited and is pretty level headed. Once she gets over her fears, I think she’s going to make a good trail horse, possibly even a kids horse one day. Not sure about performance, she’s not really built for it and it seems she prefers to keep things slow, but then again that might change once she gets comfortable with her rider. Why am I selling? I am a trader/trainer and got her in a trade. I have taught her what she knows, but progress is slow and I would like my personal projects to move a bit faster. Just lowering my personal head count. Asking $1,500

About Stephenville, TX

Stephenville is named after John M. Stephen, who settled there in 1854, and donated the land for the townsite laid out by George B. Erath when the county was organized in 1856. In the first two years of its settlement, the townsite was successful; by 1858, the population reached 776. However, the townsite was located in Comanche territory and raids were common.
