Safe, Dependable Gelding

Sonny is a 19-year-old registered Appaloosa who I have raised from a foal. Due to a divorce and life financial challenges I am searching for his new owner. Sonny is a gentleman with a big heart and a kind soul. I am hoping to find the right fit as I have had him his whole life and want the upmost best home for the rest of his. He is a seasoned, well mannered, safe horse who gives 100%, loves attention and will be your best friend. He was shown from a 2 -5 year old in halter and pleasure but moved on to be my trail horse. He has been all over Wisconsin, North and South Dakotas, The Appaloosa Chief Joseph Trail Ride in Oregon with over 500 hundred riders, mountains, rivers, and diversity. My daughter took him to Northern Montana as her lead Wrangler horse at a guest ranch for the summer, we used him as a lesson horse for many children and young adults, and was the horse everyone was safe to ride for the first time. Sonny is sound, but is showing signs of his age with slight arthritis. He hauls perfectly, bathes, trims, clips, goes through everything, is not spooky, has a comfortable gate and has no problem being ridden by himself. He does prefer to be the lead horse and still has the energy of a 10 year old. Even though he is 100 % safe for everyone to ride, the perfect fit would be a seasoned adult who is looking for a shorter horse to ride at home and an occasional trail ride with friends, along with letting your grandchildren ride him around the yard. He has put in his time and is ready for a happy and comfortable home. He is not a dominate horse and does best pastured with only one or two horses. Due to his age, daily maintenance graining is needed year around and sheltered is required. I will require references and pictures of his future residence and have the right to refuse sale if I do not see a good fit.
