Honey Badger

*PENDING SALE* My priority in horses is trust. Trust in a horse takes time and work. Trust in a client takes time and work. I am not selling to get rid of him, I am selling because it’s what I do. My clients and my horses matter to me. My horses all have many pros, but none are perfect- just like people- and I will always be honest about their cons. Honey Badger, a 2012 model, is a 3 year old gelding and stands roughly 16 hands. I adopted him as a yearling from the BLM and we placed 3rd in the National Finals of the MustangMillion in 2013, with a total winnings of $5,550. Our final act was composed of a freestyle at liberty performance that included jumping over a barrel, walking over a teeter-totter that I built for him and sliding in-between his legs, playing dead and bowing (which yes, he still does both) walking over a large tarp (I can cover him, but we ran out of time), among other more basic maneuvers in front of over 2,000 people in a closed coliseum. I have roped off of him (heading) just a few times and you can drag anything on him. I have let kids ride him around, he puts up with any nonsense. He ground ties pretty well- He won’t go anywhere fast in a pasture and in a big arena he won’t go anywhere. He comes when called (slowly, but he comes), also stopping and backing up with verbal commands on ground and in saddle. Badger lowers his head with slight pressure on his poll and/or verbal command and takes bits and halters just fine. He is an introvert, but has hustle when you ask him to without much effort. I can take him out in a pasture and feel perfectly comfortable with standing on his back and swinging a rope in the air. He LOVES water, and I took him swimming in a river in 2013 which he though was great. I have played with the barrel pattern a little on him and I plan on continuing to work with him on classic play day events. He does very well when thrown out to pasture for a few months then just tacking up and going. I never recommend that of course, but because of a recent move and some harsh winter months he proved himself in that matter. He also does a great job standing for the farrier, maintains himself very well, and picks up his feet with a verbal command and tap to his upper leg. I just sent in the paperwork to have him tested to see what his top breed influences are. I am currently asking $6,000, and starting work on spinning, and more experience on barrels and roping. I can crawl between his legs, pop balloons around him (I have taken him to a mounted shooting clinic when he was a yearling and he did fantastic). Very willing to please with no vices! He is great for: kid’s horse, trail horse, play day horse. He has potential to be great for: barrel racing, roping, mounted shooting, and probably anything else you can think of! I recently started him on an exercise program to build up more muscle. This is one of the most level-headed 3 year olds you will find! Why get an older horse with health issues when you could get this chance of a lifetime? I am not the type of person to sell a 3 y.o. as a children’s horse, but he never fails to impress me!
