Spotted Saddle Gelding for Sale in Topeka, KS

Are you looking for a companion loaded with personality with the looks to get you noticed? “One Way Ride” (aka: P.J.) may be your new best friend! P.J. LOVES people, very intelligent, patient and always willing to help. He has good ground manners, loads and rides quietly, is good for the farrier, respects an electric fence, and is always the first to the gate. He’s been ridden in several states on short and long trips. He’ll cross creeks (not jump), step over logs, stands quietly in line, has never kicked, will lead or follow and not buddy sour. He rides best without a bit working off legs cues and seat position, also neck reins and backs fine. The Jim Warner hackamore suits him very well. Besides trail riding, P.J. has also been a mount with the performance group called “Wild Women of the Frontier” based in Topeka, KS. Approximately 30 women portrayed actual female characters of the Wild West in a 30 minute skit and ending flag tribute. Having to pass an intense De-Spookem, P.J. has no fear of crowds, arenas, long costume gowns or trappings. He has performed at large horse exhibitions in Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri, a total ham and completely at ease and confident on his own. He was an audience favorite because of his bow during the performance. He knows other tricks and can easily be taught many more. P.J. was gait certified as a colt and registered into the Spotted Saddle Horse Association. His sire was a beautiful black/white Spotted Saddle Horse (passed) and my black/white Appaloosa mare is the mom. His gaited line includes Merry Go Boy, Midnight Sun, Wilson’s Allen, Roan Allen. Joey Brown, Navajo Britches, Kid Bob, Mansfield Comanche on Appy line. He lost the prominent head bob by yearling age but maintained an absolutely gorgeous and very smooth jog, extended trot, and canters like a dream. I have been told he does a “running lick” and for his size he floats over the ground. You can easily ride with gaited all day. Many people have commented that he moves like a dressage horse so he may have potential in that area. Also comments that he would look really nice pulling a cart. P.J. is also a VERY easy keeper, has good feet and never had hoof problems. He is not touchy anywhere, you can slide off his rear or walk under his tummy or scratch inside his ears. He is used to being fly sprayed twice a day and will come in for that. He’s UTD on his shots and worming and can do either without using a halter or rope. P.J. is 14 years old and is a true 16 hands tall. He stands quietly to mount either from the ground or a mounting block. He used to park out but I haven’t done that for a few years. Only selling because my friend who rode him in the performance group has retired and I’m not riding much and he’s way too good to be wasted in the pasture. I will be very particular about his home, so serious inquiries only. If you are looking for a lifelong companion and a best friend, P.J. is your horse. P.J. is located just north of Topeka, Kansas. Asking $2,500. Please call Waunita at 785-582-4***0.

About Topeka, KS

For many millennia, Native Americans inhabited the Great Plains of North America. From the 16th to the mid-18th centuries, the Kingdom of France claimed ownership of large parts of North America. In 1762, after the French and Indian War, France secretly ceded New France to Spain, per the Treaty of Fontainebleau. In 1802, Spain returned most of the land to France, but kept title to about 7,500 square miles. In 1803, the United States acquired most of the land for modern day Kansas from France as part of the 828,000 square mile Louisiana Purchase for 2.83 cents per acre.
