About Lavallette, NJ

Lavallette is a borough in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 1,875, reflecting a decline of 790 (-29.6%) from the 2,665 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 366 (+15.9%) from the 2,299 counted in the 1990 Census. Lavallette is situated on the Barnegat Peninsula, a long, narrow barrier peninsula that separates Barnegat Bay from the Atlantic Ocean. Lavallette was incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on December 21, 1887, from portions of Dover Township (now Toms River Township), based on the results of a referendum held two days earlier.
