As of the 2013 American Community Survey, there were 2,400 people living in the city. 88.7% were African American, 10.8% White and 0.6% from two or more races. As of the census of 2000, there were 3,036 people, 1,074 households, and 727 families living in the city. The population density was 932.9 people per square mile (360.7/km²).
