Laveen became less isolated as bridges were built across the Salt River. The store, barber shop, and one of the pool houses burned down. Roger Laveen, later elected Maricopa County Recorder, tore down the other pool hall. And the Laveen Women's Club donated its building to the community, which moved it west of Laveen School. The LCC restored the building—now called "Building A"—using barbecue proceeds as well as federal funds.
