APPALOOSA LOVERS ONLY!!! Allow me to introduce my precious princess, Diamond Girl Dakotah, or commonly called "Dakotah". She is a magnificent solid white registered Appaloosa, with the exception of scattered black spots on her hips. Her pedigree is exceptional and quite impressive. She stands 16.0 hands high, with a perfect conformation, lovely narrow face, tall pointed ears and gorgeous big brown eyes. From a distance, most people think she is an Arabian, until they see her spots. Dakotah carries herself majestically, with a breathtaking run, as she tosses her fabulous white mane and swishes her long white tail. Many have said she is one of the most beautiful horses they have ever seen. I agree. However, what makes Dakotah so special is her strong, independent nature. She is a true American Indian horse, with an uncrushable spirit and love for life. She is a joy to ride, watch, play with and hang-out with. Like most Appaloosas, she learns to love, respect and trust you by you loving, respecting and trusting her. Dakotah needs a good mix of gentle love and tough love so that she always remembers whose boss, but once you've won her over...she is an angel and a dream. If you have never had Appaloosas, or want a horse with a simpler, more laid-back personality...Dakotah is not for you. She is exciting, loving and loyal, but only with an owner who understands the proud and spirited heart of an Appaloosa. She cannot be beat into submission. She will only become more defiant and learn that she cannot trust you. You earn her love and respect with consistent and compassionate treatment, combined with lots of love and attention. Dakotah is my dream horse. So, you are asking why I would want to sell her. I broke my foot in October, found a large tumor in my hand in November and required two surgeries on my hand in January, then in February. Recuperation has been long and prevented me from riding Dakotah for long stretches at a time. Sadly, I have just recently found out that more surgery is required on my hand. This has been unfair to Dakotah, and now it will only be worse. Dakotah deserves better. She doesn't understand and gets upset with me. She is extremely intelligent and knows how to tell me that she misses me, and that she is not happy about it. It breaks my heart to see this adorable horse feeling neglected. No matter how much time I spend with her in between surgeries and recuperation, it doesn't make up for the time I can't ride her and the attention she needs from me.
