Princess is a 5-year-old dark palomino with dapples Missouri Fox Trotter/Tennessee Walking Horse Cross with a stout built standing at 15.1 hands tall. This gal has the complete pleasure horse package you can trail ride anywhere with the ease of mind knowing she is going to take care of the rider. We have used her for several weekends camping and trail riding, but before she came to us here as a trail horse, she was also a field trial mount, so gunfire, dogs, or ATVs do not bother her! Princess is the most affectionate horse we have had the pleasure of owning, with the traditional in-your-pocket attitude and excellent ground manners. She loves attention; whether getting her mane braided or a simple pet on the neck, she always closes her eyes & leans into you! She is easily caught out to pasture. The same goes while being stalled; she meets you at the door. Princess has spent most of her young life trail riding in Southeastern Kentucky. She has been on several overnight camping trips with us & her past owner before he passed away and took her on a few field trial competitions. If you are looking for a SOLID true trail horse that can pick her way through the roughest of terrain, staying sure-footed going wherever you point her head without any hesitation, this gal would make you a great fit and has her entire life ahead to only get better with time & experience. Princess is not a horse to ride, always on edge, just looking for something to spook or be nervous about; she’s more on the laid-back side. Princess has the potential to make someone a forever trail partner. She takes to new things with confidence, always eager to learn more. This girl is younger, so we couldn’t feel confident enough to recommend her beginner safe, but with more age & experience, she would make an excellent candidate! Princess has a head-shaking, naturally smooth gait that is always controllable. She will easily transition between gaits and will go whatever speed you ask, from a slow flat foot walk to an easy-going enjoyable gait with a gentle nudge or “smooch” Princess will flat foot walk on a loose rein & stops instantly, She is trained to be mounted from a mounting block, or if you’re out on the trail you can mount her from just about anything in the trails rock, logs, etc. Since we have had the pleasure of working with Princess, we have introduced her to several new things like carrying the flag, working cattle, mounting from mounting blocks, riding alongside main highways with heavy traffic, and even flapping tarps around her! We have personally trail-ridden Princess several miles on trails by herself and with a group of friends. She does great & acts the same with crossing downed trees cut up, water, ditches & the steep rocky terrains that we have here in Southeastern Kentucky takes her time with every step, completely trusting the rider to guide the way! She’s been ridden along the country roads around our home, where she has encountered farm equipment, other livestock running alongside the road (cows, horses, goats jumping around), dogs barking loudly, vehicles passing, and ATVs. She is well behaved, getting a haircut, taking baths, tacking up, loading & unloading in a trailer, and being shod (has four new kegs all around). We spend time with our horses training them with natural horsemanship methods creating a human-animal relationship with respect and trust from our horses! NO bad habits/vice we have ever seen out of her, no rearing up, kicking, bucking, biting, barn weaving, cribbing, or barn/buddy sour.
