Gelding for Sale in Spanish Springs, NV

10 year old grade 16.3hh gelding. The Good: -Sweet in your pocket type -Low headset, VERY light in the face -Moves off leg, seat, voice and rein cues easily. -Good stop -On the slower/lazier side but still moves out easily -Smooth easy to sit gaits -Nice extended gaits too -Completed the mounted police horse school this year -Carried flags -Has had a rope swung off him and has tracked the heel-o-matic a couple of times -Great on trail alone and with others -Stands quietly for bath -Lunges on or off the line -Athletic -Good for farrier -Up to date on shoes, vaccines, deworming and had his teeth done about a year ago The “Needs Some Work”: -Hasn’t been hauled much and gets nervous in new areas but settles in quickly -Hasn’t been trail ridden much but does great on trail -Needs a confident rider in new situations to help him along or would be fine with a beginner who has a trainer or instructor -Needs encouragement to get into the trailer some days -Does best on a diet of grass hay and a few ulcer preventative supplements as he is prone to them I believe this boy would do really well in something like local/mid level ranch riding, western pleasure, trail classes, western/regular dressage, etc. Or just a wonderful horse to ride around at home or get some trail experience on him! He could also be used for a working ranch as he as a quiet demeanor and good brain. He’s hard not to fall in love with with his big goofy Great Dane-like personality. He has the makings of an incredible horse, just needs someone to haul and expose him to new things. Currently in training with a western performance horse trainer until he’s sold. Trainer like his work ethic and athleticism.

About Spanish Springs, NV

Sky Ranch Airport, a 2,000-foot (610 m)-long dirt airstrip, was located northeast of the intersection of State Route 445 and Spanish Springs Road. This 1940s auxiliary field was the site of the first Reno Air Races, in 1964 and 1965, then was the location of the headquarters of the 126,000-acre (510 km 2) Rocketdyne Nevada Field Laboratory (NFL), which was used in the late 1960s and early 1970s for testing rocket engines used in the Space Program. The Sky Ranch airfield site has been covered by housing developments, which are expanding in the area as the Reno-Sparks metropolitan area expands. With the closure of Sky Ranch in 1970, another airfield was graded approximately 2 miles (3 km) west. Now known as Spanish Springs Airport (N86), it has been in continuous operation since 1971.
