How do we describe this one-of-a-kind horse? He is special. Chief will babysit the kids, the husbands, and the guests, but for any level of rider, he will get to work when it’s time to work. He will carry you safely in every trail situation. He is rock solid as a shotgun shooting mount, and he has a super smooth lope if scouting a field trial is on the agenda. Need to go easy on the trail or in the gallery? Give him his head, and he will walk you where you want to go. No muss, no fuss, just a safe, sane, and solid partner. At 14.2 hands, he is the perfect size for a good all-around companion. He came to us with many hours and miles as a lesson and trail horse. Having completed our entire program, he has the best ground and saddle training you can find – from basic lunging, flexing, picking up his shoulders, moving off your legs, and desensitizing to the obstacle course. This has been reinforced by practical experience and many hours doing his job. He is an all-around winner. We have had him in deep water, mud, and steep trails; just point him and go. Need to move cows? He tracks, cuts, has been roped off of, opens and closes gates, regularly moves cows, and will drag anything you latch to him. Want to take him over a jump course? He’s game.
