Quarter Horse Gelding for Sale in Horse Cave, KY

Dakota is a 12 yr old, 15.3 hand Pinto gelding. He is not gaited. He is not registered. Walk, trot, jogs and canters like a dream. Can't say enough good things about this guy but I'll try: he has phenomenal ground manners, stands to be tied or for vet and farrier. Follows you around like a puppy dog even without a lead in your hand. Easy keeper both in the stall and field. Very gentle and sweet personality, genuinely wants to be with you and in your pocket! He is an easy ride, usually a bit lazy but will pick up the pace if you ask him. He has trail experience! He has been on trails on and around Mammoth Cave National Park. All day or a couple hour rides he'll go either way. Will ride out alone or in a group, hes been ridden out on the farm to check fence and taken on all day trail rides. He is occasionally vocal to other horses he sees but he knows his job and doesn't get fussy or excited about them. We recommend an intermediate rider for him, he doesn't neck rein (hes a pull rein horse), but knows how to sidepass and stops on a dime. It wouldn't take much at all for someone to refine him and teach him some maneuvers, for a lazy mover he is a very fast learner! No vices or behavioral issues. If you're looking for a horse you can get on and go for a trail that you don't have to worry about, Dakota is your guy! Take him as a trail horse or refine him and compete off him. The only reason he's looking for new pasture is his current owner doesn't have the time to ride in him like she wants to. Asking 3500 price is negotiable, motived seller. Located in Horse Cave,Ky. Pm for Videos. Call 270 832 2255 to setup a day/time to come ride him!

About Horse Cave, KY

The town was settled by Major Albert Anderson in the 1840s. The landowner donated land for a Louisville and Nashville Railroad station in 1858 on the provision that it be named after nearby Horse Cave. The community around the station developed quickly, so that a post office was erected in 1860, and the city was formally incorporated by the state assembly in 1864. The cave for which the city is named is located on the south side of Main Street. Various explanations are given for its unusual name.
