Thoroughbred Gelding for Sale in Murrieta, CA

Meet Gold Cover, affectionately known as Slater. He is 16h, give or take an inch, 6 ½ year old chestnut TB gelding. Sired by a successful Irish racehorse, broken at 4 and never raced Slater started out his career as an English Jumper. While in training he jumped up to 2’9”. Slater was purchased in March of 2019 as a prospect for Western Gymkhana. He has participated in (6) Gymkhana shows at the FC level. Slater ties, bathes, loads, and stands for the Farrier. He is very athletic, sound, and a great mover in the arena. Slater has decent ground manners and lunges well. He has been on trail but needs more experience. Slater is up to date on all his shots, shoes (front only) and teeth. He appears to be a cribber. Slater has all the basics down and gets better with each ride. Flexible and willing, he is ready to take the next step in his training which could be either in a Western or English direction. Since Slater is still somewhat green he requires a confident, experienced rider and/or trainer to finish him off. Oozing potential, Slater will make the right rider a great partner! If strong, curious, young TB geldings are your thing then Slater is your man!

About Murrieta, CA

For most of its history, Murrieta was not heavily populated. On July 17, 1873, Domingo Pujol, Francisco Sanjurjo, and Juan and Ezequiel Murrieta purchased the Rancho Pauba and Rancho Temecula Mexican land grants, comprising 52,000 acres (210 km 2) in the area. Ezequiel returned to Spain and turned the land over to his younger brother, Juan Murrieta (1844–1936), who brought 7,000 sheep to the valley in 1873, using the meadows to feed his sheep. The partnership dissolved in 1876 and Ezequiel and Juan Murrieta retained 15,000 acres of the northern half of the Temecula Rancho. Ezequiel and Juan Murrieta granted a right-of-way, one-hundred-feet wide to the California Southern Railroad through the Temecula Rancho on April 28, 1882 so that the railroad could be constructed through the valley.
