Rocky Mountain Gelding for Sale in Jamestown, KY

Taking offers on THEHORSEBAY site Toby is a 15.1-15.2hh, Chocolate flax mane and tail gelding that is 9 years old and well built! Toby has been trail ridden all over West Virginia and Kentucky. He has been camping in several more states, and I have had him all over Big South Fork trail riding. He has seen all kinds of wildlife. He will cross creeks, ditches, logs and navigate rough rocky areas. He is safe in traffic, whether that be trucks or cars. He has a smooth, natural 4-beat gait that is easy to ride. He will neck rein and lope. Toby has been around cows and dogs and will go anywhere that he is asked to. He has been ridden many miles in Kentucky’s mountains and encountered every obstacle possible on the trail. I have used him to coon hunt off for several nights, led my hounds off of him, and shots guns off of and around him. He will go up or down even the steepest slopes, across deep creeks, over downed trees, and through all types of rough terrain while still being sure-footed. In addition to riding, he has also been under the harness and pulled a sled and buggy. Toby is a super nice horse that is ready to hit the trails!

About Jamestown, KY

The community was established in 1826 to be the seat of the newly formed Russell County. It was briefly known as Jacksonville in honor of General Andrew Jackson, who had just won a plurality of the popular vote during the 1824 presidential election but lost the runoff in the House of Representatives, largely because of the " corrupt bargain" struck by Henry Clay and John Quincy Adams. However, an anti-Jacksonian party loyal to Clay came into power the same year and the post office was established in November as Jamestown after local landowner James Wooldridge, who (together with his brother John) had donated 110 acres of land for the town. The act of the state legislature incorporating the city in December continued this name, which the city has used since. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,624 people, 662 households, and 421 families residing in the city.
