Quarter Horse Mare for Sale in Bastrop, TX

Mocha is a sweet, willing mare. She can be caught in a 15 acre pasture, halter in hand, no treats. In fact, when she sees a person in the pasture, she walks to them. She ties and leads. She will willingly lead beside an utility vehicle at both a walk and a trot. She picks up all four feet and has had farrier work. She will already walk over obstacles: walks onto the wooden bridge two feet, then backs off, walks onto the bridge all four feet, then backs off (as asked). She will stand inside a large tire. She is learning to longe on a short line and responding to “giving her hip” when asked. Although she can’t be ridden for a year or more, her foster home will continue to move forward with her training by introducing a saddle and even long lining to prepare her for whatever her future adopter would like to train her for. She is a lot of fun to work with as she’s willing to give anything a try. She is the perfect age to adopt and train! She’s going to make someone a great partner! Mocha is being fostered in Bastrop, TX

About Bastrop, TX

Spanish soldiers lived temporarily at the current site of Bastrop as early as 1804, when a fort was established where the Old San Antonio Road crossed the Colorado River and named Puesta del Colorado. Bastrop's namesake, Felipe Enrique Neri, Baron de Bastrop, was a commoner named Philip Hendrik Nering Bogel, who was wanted for embezzlement in his native country of the Netherlands. In Texas, he assisted Moses and Stephen F. Austin in obtaining land grants in Texas and served as Austin's land commissioner. In 1827, Austin located about 100 families in an area adjacent to his earlier Mexican contracts.
