Quarter Horse Gelding for Sale in Amherst, VA

Sham is a beautiful red roan ranch gelding. 15.1 hands tall and 12 years old. He's super sweet, but not an in-your-pocket horse. He's a working ranch horse and he knows his job. He side passes both ways, steers off leg pressure, has a true one-hand neck rein, has a big stop! doesn't spook, loads like a charm, stands for farrier, walks up to you in the pasture, loves grooming and easy to tack up. You need to go slow when you tighten the girth, but otherwise absolutely no vices. He's a great all-around horse, will go wherever you point him, alone or in a group. Super easy keeper, is happy on pasture, but stalls well, too. He's a smart boy and you can literally go anywhere and do anything with him. He would make a good barrel horse. We are located in Amherst VA Here’s a YouTube video of him. https://youtu.be/yjd-Sm7H4Do

About Amherst, VA

Amherst was founded in 1807. Originally known as "The Oaks" and "Seven Oaks", it began as a mere stagecoach station on the Charlottesville- Lynchburg road. Once Nelson County was separated from Amherst County in 1807, the community became the seat of Amherst County. It was at this time that the village decided to rename itself in honor of French and Indian War hero Jeffery Amherst, 1st Baron Amherst. Major-General Amherst had been the hero of the Battle of Ticonderoga and later served as the governor of the Colony of Virginia from 1763 to 1768.
