Age unkown but I don’t believe she is over 10 years old.
Was told she is an Azteca
She’s been with a trainer for 60 days
She picks up her feet but needs more preparation for the Farrier. She does put her front feet on a hood jack and allows me to rasp all fours. She’s still unsure of stretching out her back legs to be put on a hoof jack.
She’s been through all major ground work. Is better about flexing. Struggles with flexing on opposite side. But with persistence she gets there.
Maple is a dominant mare, she needs a firm hand and a strong handler otherwise she can be disrespectful to those she feels she can take advantage of. This behavior is not my cup of tea. But in the right hands these horses make the best horses.

About Gig harbor, WA
In 1905, the Skansie brothers were the first in the area to build a gasoline-powered fishing boat. They did so at first by refitting boats with a gasoline-powered engine. Usually the motors were quite small, between 6 and 8 horsepower; the Skansie brothers originally used a 7-horsepower engine. Although these were powerboats, neither masts nor a turntable to hoist in the nets were used. This work was all done by hand.
