JFK’S Pretty Penny is her registered name, but we call her Penny here at the barn; she sure is pretty as a brand-new penny! Penny has been used as a trail horse her entire life, and we have continued to trail ride her in the rugged Eastern Kentucky trails. She will go anywhere you ask her with a naturally smooth head-shaking gait. Penny listens to voice commands wonderfully. You can drop the reins around her neck on the trails flatfoot walking while enjoying the scenery by saying “walk” when asked with a “smooch” sound; she will pick on up to her smooth 4-beat gait. Penny will also back up. She also has a nice soft canter when asked to do so. Penny is a horse that would be well suited for the entire family to enjoy, she has been trail ridden by an older gentleman, and he would also let his grandchildren occasionally ride her. Penny doesn’t mind trail riding with a group of friends or by herself; she handles the same with either. She is not a spooky horse looking for something to be afraid of out on the roads or in trails; she has always taken to new things calmly. Penny is a patient horse. She stands to be mounted perfectly from a mounting block, tree stump, or picnic table. We have introduced many new things to Penny, like the mounting block, gunfire, and riding Downtown; she always handles as she should for a seasoned trail horse.
