Thoroughbred Gelding for Sale in Chesterfield, VA
On the Ground: Malibu’s demeanor is so calm and chill with a very “surfer dude, don’t care” attitude. He leads wonderfully and respects his rider on the ground. He currently stands 16h at the withers. We believe he will even out around 16.1h.
Malibu stands great for the farrier, vet, cross-ties and absolutely loves bath time. He loads right up into the trailer. He is a really curious guy and loves to be around people. Absolutely a total puppy dog of a horse.
Under Saddle: This is hands down the easiest baby that has come through our program. Malibu hasn’t offered any resistance under saddle and came with a natural balance to him. He goes down on the bit, balanced in the corner and moves off of leg well. He has a very easy, smooth lead change. He is currently jumping 2’3” courses at home. We do believe he will make an easy 3’0” - 3’6” horse due to his beautiful build and natural ability.
Malibu is going to excel in any ring. His canter is a metronome. He is such a clean slate, that he can really go in any direction. He is brave, loves the trails and has a large sweeping stride. There is nothing this horse can’t do if he’s trained for it.
Malibu has been off property on trail rides. He loves getting off the farm and going on the road or in the woods. He has also been off property to his first show and was phenomenal. He will hack in an open field alone or with buddies.
With all that said, Malibu is recommended for an advanced intermediate and up rider. His rider should be able to use their hands and seat independently. Malibu is easy to hold together, but can get strung out if the reins are just dropped on his neck. Malibu doesn’t like to go fast, but he does listen to his rider exceptionally well, so a rider without a swinging leg is strongly recommended.
First Week Here: Malibu walked off the trailer with no excitement. We hand walked him around the ring, did some jogs and he was ready to go into his stall. We turned him out right away with one of our other sale horses at the time, Piper, and they became the best of buds. During the first week he had one lunging day, to where he had zero excitement and one day under saddle. We gave him the rest of the week off to really take a breath and settle in, although we believe he would have been totally fine starting work right off the bat. He had no issues with his stall or turnout. Our horses are out 24/7, he did pace the fence line the first two days of night turnout, but is totally fine being inside or outside all the time now.
Track Life: Malibu retired sound from the track on April 7th, 2022 with only 7 starts and got to our farm April 22nd.
He is UTD on shots, farrier, teeth and coggins.
