Quarter Horse Mare for Sale in Lapeer, MI

Selling for a cousin. Redeemer Bar Miss is a 16 year old Chestnut Quarter Horse Mare. She sticks just under 14.1hh, is short backed and stocky. She has been standing in the pasture for the last 5 years. Was ridden in 4H prior to that. She was an only horse for many years. Brought her to the barn to put some time on her to sell her. She seems to be a bit buddy sour now, this may change as she gets used to being at a place with other horses. She does not do anything bad just dances when cross tied in the barn alone and she looks for her pasture mate while you ride, but still goes where you point her. She is not a spooky horse. She walks over bridges, logs and tarps no problem. She is broke but needs wet saddle pads. She is overweight and out of shape. I would recommend an experienced rider or confident intermediate. She has energy but it not fast. I don’t think she would be a barrel prospect. It takes a while to get her to walk on a loose rein. She wants to trot and canter. She knows her leads, but canter is awkward due to lack of muscle. She is quickly learning to move off leg pressure, and by the second time I rode her I got her to pivot on the haunches both ways. She neck reins well. She stood like a lady while I hosed her off. I think she will make someone a nice trail mount. Have not had her on cows but think she is built nicely for cow/ranch type work. Has lots of potential to be a handy little mare. She is UTD on coggins and de wormer. Will be getting her feet done. She has never had her teeth done. Not sure on vaccines. She was registered but papers are lost, so selling as grade. I will continue to work with her until she is sold. She is a nice mare just needs to get back into shape. More pics and video to come. Asking $1200 motivated seller, located in Lapeer.

About Lapeer, MI

By an ordinance of the Congress of the United States passed on July 13, 1787, the area lying northwest of the Ohio River, though still occupied by the British, was organized as the Northwest Territory. Lapeer County was once part of the Northwest Territory. In January 1820, the county of Oakland was formed, which served the area now known as Lapeer, until the County of Lapeer was formed in 1837, when Michigan became a state. The first elections were for county officers, with 520 persons voting in 1837. Folklore claims Lapeer was derived from the naming of the south branch of the Flint River, which flows northwestward in Lapeer County.
