Schuyler Riley and Ilian Win the $25,000 WEF Challenge Cup by 7/10ths of
A Second

Wellington, FL – February 27, 2003 – Schuyler Riley and Ilian won the
$25,000 WEF Challenge Cup today over 41 other competitors. South Beach
Stables owns Ilian, a bay gelding from Holland, who had 4 faults in the
jump-off with a time of 37.02 seconds. Second-placed Profox with Chris
Kappler also had 4 faults but a slower time of 37.73 seconds. Six
horses qualified for the jump-off - 3 horses had 8 faults, and 1 horse
was eliminated in the jump-off. Profox is a Rhinelander owned by Jorgen
Winroth.
Margie Engle won the $2,500 1.35 m Time First Jump-off with Naram.
Impressive as this pair won the same class yesterday, Wednesday. Naram
is owned by Shay Whitney Griese and beat 74 horses today and was best in
a field of 88 horses yesterday.
Hunter Champions completed today included 3 horses ridden by Scott
Stewart: Chopard – Regular Conformation Hunter Champion with Scott
Stewart riding for Alexa Weisman. Prove It was Regular Working Hunter
Champion for owner Mimi Tashjian. And Grace was named Champion Second
Year Green Working Hunter for owner Sarah Alvarez. A triple crown for
Scott Stewart. More championships to finish tomorrow.
Green Conformation Hunters finished today with In Disguise as Champion
again. He was Champion every week except the one week he didn’t show.
Sachine Belle rides this beautiful bay for Ellen Toon. And Ellen is
having great success with him in the 35-50 Year Old Adult Amateur
Hunters. Ellen was champion in the division during the Kilkenny/ICH
Internationale week.

Tickets to the Winter Equestrian Festival are available by phone at
793-JUMP or at the gate. Admission is free on Wednesdays. Children 12
& under are free all days. Senior admission is $5 every day. Adult
admission is $5 on Thursday and Friday, $10 on Saturday, and $15 on
Sunday. Parking is free.
