Olympic Veteran Anne Kursinski Wins Whiteface Mountain Jump-off at 34th
Annual Lake Placid Horse Show

Lake Placid, NY—June 26, 2003—Four-time U.S. Olympic veteran Anne
Kursinski
of Flemington, NJ claimed the top two places in the Whiteface Mountain
Jump-off, Thursday’s featured event at the 34th annual Lake Placid Horse
Show.
Thirteen of the 34 entries turned in fault-free rides over the 13-jump
first-round course at the North Elba Showgrounds. Nine of these then rode
fault-free over the seven-jump second-round course and Kursinski claimed the
win with the fastest fault-free time of 31.690 seconds on Sun God. The 1983
Pan American Games double Gold Medalist also took second place by finishing
the jump-off in 31.990 seconds on Great Point.
The 2003 Lake Placid Horse Show continues Friday with the Lake Placid Resort
North American League (NAL) Open Stake and the Turtle Lane Farm Open Jumper
Welcome Stake. Saturday features the Hilton Resort Open Jumper Stake and
the horse show culminates on Sunday with the week’s main event, the $50,000
Budweiser Grand Prix of Lake Placid for the Whitney Perpetual Challenge
Trophy. Prior to the Grand Prix, Sunday’s schedule will feature the Juliam
Farm Lead Line class and C.M. Hadfield’s Saddlery Parade of Champions.
Sunday’s action also features a full day of Hunter Classics including the
$3,000 Junior/Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic, the $3,000 NAL Adult Amateur
Hunter Classic as well as the $3,000 NAL Children’s Hunter Classic.

Admission to the Lake Placid and I Love New York Horse Shows is $2.00 on
weekdays and $5.00 on weekends. Children under the age of 12 are admitted
free. Tickets are available at the gate.
