Gladstone, New Jersey -April 10, 2003- The United States Equestrian Team
(USET) has named Eventing rider Will Faudree of West Grove, PA as the
2003 recipient of the Lionel Guerrand-Hermes Trophy.
The trophy is awarded to a Young Rider (age 16 - 21) who exemplifies the
USET's ideals of sportsmanship and horsemanship.
At a young age, Faudree has already established an impressive record as
an Eventing rider. In 2002, the Midland, TX, native earned the USET
Markham Trophy, which is awarded to the highest placed Young Rider at
the USET Spring and Autumn Three Star Championships. Faudree won the
Markham Trophy for the first time last April at the MBNA Foxhall Cup in
Georgia where he placed thirteenth aboard Antigua.
Later in 2002, Faudree rode Antigua to a fourth place finish at Fair
Hill International in Fair Hill, MD. After moving from Texas, Faudree is
now based out of West Grove, PA, where he rides with two-time Olympic
Team Gold Medalist Phillip Dutton of Australia.
In addition to having his name engraved on the Hermes Cup, Faudree
receives a Hermes saddle.
