USET Mandatory Short List Outing for the 2002 WEG Eventing Team

Gladstone, NJ—July 23, 2002—The United States Equestrian Team
(USET), Banbury Cross Farm and Great Meadows will be hosting the Mandatory
Short List Outing for the 2002 World Equestrian Games (WEG) Eventing Team on
August 16-17. The following horse-and-rider combinations named to the Short
List or as Alternates to the Short List are required to attend this
competition as part of the selection process for the 2002 World Equestrian
Games Eventing Competition:

Riders preparing for the 2002 World Equestrian Games from several other
countries as well as US riders preparing to compete at the Burghley CCI****
and Blenheim CCI*** this fall in the UK may also be taking part in the USET
Mandatory Short List Outing.
The Mandatory Short List Outing will be held in the form of an
advanced combined test with cross country. The combined test will take
place at Banbury Cross Farm, 22959 Carters Farm Lane in Middleburg, VA on
Friday, August 16. Dressage will take place from approximately 7:00 AM
until noon. Show jumping will start at approximately 6:00 PM and will
continue for about one hour. The show jumping phase will be held as part of
a benefit for the eventing athletes competing in the 2002 World Equestrian
Games. The cross country schooling phase of the competition will take place
at Great Meadows on the morning of Saturday, August 17. It is expected that
the first horse on course will begin at 8:00 AM. This phase of the
Mandatory Outing should take approximately one and a half hours to complete.
Spectators are welcome free of charge for the dressage and cross
country phases. Anyone wishing to attend the show jumping phase /USET
benefit are welcome provided they R.S.V.P. by August 12 to Kim Rippard at
the USET 908-234-1251, ext. 25 and understand that they will be invited to
support the USET World Equestrian Games eventing athletes at this function.
